The bunker complex of the series “Silver Leaf” with a side entrance allows you to separate rooms, unlike other models. In this unit, the kitchen and dining area are at the opposite end of the main bedroom and bunk room, a common living area is between them. The side entrance allows you to create a more traditional feeling of home. By separating rooms, you get much more space inside.

How many entrances should the bunker have?

The number of entrances to the bunker depends on its type and purpose and can be 1-2. In some cases, the presence of an additional entrance (emergency) is a required condition for the shelter, in others it is a recommendation. Let's consider both options.

Bunker with two entrances

Two entrances into the bunker are the best option for shelters of all types. One entrance is the main one, with wide doors and easy access. Another entrance is emergency, small in size. In some cases, operation without it is prohibited.

The second entrance is required for such cases:

• If the main one starts in the basement of the house.
• If there are tall trees, poles, buildings, etc. near the main entrance.
• If the bunker has a large capacity and is intended for a long stay.

Bunkers with one entrance

The second entrance is not provided in certain types of shelters, and also if they are built in places with low probability of active hostilities.

Usually they refuse it in such cases:

• In shelters for short stays.
• In bunkers of the simplest design.
• In some types of mobile bunkers, in which hatches with a powerful hydraulic drive are installed instead of an emergency entrance.
• It is possible to refuse an emergency entrance if the bunker is located in an open area, and trees and buildings are very far away.
• The shelter is on the surface or semi-dug in the ground.

Building an emergency exit significantly increases the cost of the bunker, but it increases the chance of surviving during hostilities. Therefore, we recommend that you follow the advice of experts and provide an escape hatch, even if you are far from the front.
